Success at Grapchina: Best oral presentation for Valentina Cantatore
Now in its third year, the 2016 International Graphene Innovation Conference (Grapchina 2016) was held in Qingdao, China on 22-24 September, with over 2000 attendants. A trade show and academic event, Grapchina aims to show the significant influence of graphene on future technology in daily life, to indicate the cutting-edge trends of the graphene industry, to explore the opportunities from existing successes, and promote the global commercialisation of graphene.
Presenting at Grapchina was Valentina Cantatore, post doc and theoretical chemist in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. Dr Cantatore was awarded best oral presentation for her work on “Multi-Purpose Functionalization of Boron Doped Graphene”. Graphitene are proud to work with Chalmers in supplying boron doped graphene, which shows promise in tuning the physical-chemical properties of materials.
Dr Cantatore is a computational chemist, working on modelling functionalized boron doped graphene for various applications; catalysis, sensors and polymer reinforcement in particular. “I saw this prize as an acknowledgement to my research topic but also a recognition of the importance of the modelling work in the graphene community”, Dr Cantatore said. “It means that scientists start to recognize the potential of boron doped graphene.”
“Thanks to Graphitene we can start testing what I predict with the theory and go further in this almost new field of graphene research”.
We look forward to learning more from the fascinating work at Chalmers, and to continuing to supply a world class product to advance knowledge in this exciting field.
